Hartselle finishes 1-3 at Over the Mountain Tournament
The Lady Tigers dropped three of four games at the Over the Mountain Tournament in Hoover Friday and Saturday. Hartselle won its match against Oak Mountain 25-23, 22-25, 15-11, but dropped matches against Sparkman (25-18, 20-25, 6-15), St. Paul’s (10-25, 17-25) and Vestavia Hills (16-25, 17-25). Hartselle’s record moved to 30-12 on the season.
Lauren Drake led the Lady Tigers with 25 kills at the tournament, followed by Mary Virginia Reeves with 24. Emily Roden had a team-high 23 digs, followed by Kayla Orr with 19 and Drake and Cerra Little with 18 each.
Orr led the team with 11 aces, followed by Reeves and Shauna Clemons with three each. Reeves led the Lady Tigers with five blocks, followed by Little and Dana Lacey each with four.
Hartselle def. Cullman 25-12, 25-21; Hartselle def. Curry 25-15, 25-11
The Lady Tigers defeated area foe Cullman and non-area opponent Curry Thursday, with Hartselle improving to a 5-0 record in area play.
Mary Virginia Reeves led the Lady Tigers with 16 kills in the two matches, followed by Lauren Drake with 10. Drake also led Hartselle with seven digs, followed by Emily Roden with five.
Reeves led the Lady Tigers with six blocks and tied with Kayla Orr for a team-high two aces.
Danville def. Tanner 25-9, 25-11; Danville def. Priceville 25-16, 25-18; Curry def. Danville 25-23, 21-25, 25-23.
The Lady Hawks took two of three matches Tuesday night, defeating Tanner and Priceville while losing to Curry. Danville’s record moved to 35-11 on the season.
For the night, Alaina Fitzgerald led the Lady Hawks with 36 kills, followed by Kirby Wallace with 15 and Bethany Evans with 11. Kassie Cowart led the team with 15 digs, followed by Fitzgerald with 11 and Evans with nine. Evans also led the team with 16 aces and 20 assists.
