Town of Priceville council minutes

The regular bi-monthly meeting of the Priceville Town Council was held on Tuesday, Aug. 1 at the Priceville Municipal Building.
Mayor Melvin Duran called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. Kelly Dean, Town Clerk gave the roll call with the following member absent: Councilman Tim Crow and Councilman Sam Heflin.
Mayor Melvin Duran gave the invocation.
Councilman Tommy Perry made the motion to approve the work session minutes of July 13 as printed. Councilman Wayne Dunkin seconded the motion. The motion carried with a unanimous roll call vote of the following: Councilman Wayne Dunkin-yes, Councilman John Oakley-yes, Councilman Tommy Perry-yes, and Mayor Melvin Duran-yes.
Councilman Wayne Dunkin made the motion to approve the previous minutes of Thursday, July 13. Councilman Tommy Perry seconded the motion. The motion carried with a unanimous roll call vote of the following: Councilman Wayne Dunkin-yes, Councilman John Oakley-yes, Councilman Tommy Perry-yes, and Mayor Melvin Duran-yes.
Councilman Wayne Dunkin made the motion to amend the agenda to include the following: Birdwell appraisal, Police Department, Library, and Senate District 3 Candidate Arthur Orr.

Councilman Wayne Dunkin made the motion to approve $702.38 for the Alabama League of Municipalities FY 2007 dues. Councilman Tommy Perry seconded the motion. The motion carried with a unanimous roll call vote of the following: Councilman Wayne Dunkin-yes, Councilman John Oakley-yes, Councilman Tommy Perry-yes, and Mayor Melvin Duran-yes.
Councilman Wayne Dunkin made the motion to approve rescheduling the following Work Session &Council Meetings:
Sept.14 to Tuesday Sept. 5
Nov. 23 to Thursday Nov. 30.
Councilman Tommy Perry seconded the motion. The motion carried with a unanimous roll call vote of the following: Councilman Wayne Dunkin-yes, Councilman John Oakley-yes, Councilman Tommy Perry-yes, and Mayor Melvin Duran-yes.
Councilman Wayne Dunkin made the motion to suspend the rules to hear Ordinance 2006-03: An Ordinance for unanimous consent to annex the property owned by Larry &Theresa Waddell off of Friendship Road. Councilman Tommy Perry seconded the motion. The motion carried with a unanimous roll call vote of the following: Councilman Wayne Dunkin-yes, Councilman John Oakley-yes, Councilman Tommy Perry-yes, and Mayor Melvin Duran-yes.
Councilman Wayne Dunkin made the motion to adopt Ordinance 2006-03: An Ordinance for unanimous consent to annex the property owned by Larry &Theresa Waddell off of Friendship Road. The motion carried with a unanimous roll call vote of the following: Councilman Wayne Dunkin-yes, Councilman John Oakley-yes, Councilman Tommy Perry-yes, and Mayor Melvin Duran-yes.
Councilman Tommy Perry made the motion to approve $85.00 for an ad in the Hartselle Enquirer Football addition for Priceville High School and Brewer High School. ($42.50 each) Councilman Wayne Dunkin seconded the motion. The motion carried with a roll call vote of the following: Councilman Wayne Dunkin-yes, Councilman John Oakley-abstain, Councilman Tommy Perry-yes, and Mayor Melvin Duran-yes.
Councilman John Oakley made the motion to approve $166 for the FY 2007 International Institute of Municipal Clerks membership dues for Kelly Dean, Town Clerk and Linda Duran, Deputy Clerk. Councilman Tommy Perry seconded the motion. The motion carried with a unanimous roll call vote of the following: Councilman Wayne Dunkin-yes, Councilman John Oakley-yes, Councilman Tommy Perry-yes, and Mayor Melvin Duran-yes.
Councilman Wayne Dunkin made the motion to approve $85.94 for a camera part for Officer Jason Wilbanks patrol car. Councilman Tommy Perry seconded the motion. The motion carried with a unanimous roll call vote of the following: Councilman Wayne Dunkin-yes, Councilman John Oakley-yes, Councilman Tommy Perry-yes, and Mayor Melvin Duran-yes.
Councilman Wayne Dunkin made the motion to approve $200 for file storage boxes for the police department records. Councilman Tommy Perry seconded the motion. The motion carried with a unanimous roll call vote of the following: Councilman Wayne Dunkin-yes, Councilman John Oakley-yes, Councilman Tommy Perry-yes, and Mayor Melvin Duran-yes.
Councilman Wayne Dunkin made the motion to approve $125 for (2) radio batteries for the police department. Councilman Tommy Perry seconded the motion.
The motion carried with a unanimous roll call vote of the following: Councilman Wayne Dunkin-yes, Councilman John Oakley-yes, Councilman Tommy Perry-yes, and Mayor Melvin Duran-yes.
State Senate Candidate Arthur Orr addressed the council.
Boy Scout Aaron Wooley was in the audience working toward a badge.
Councilman Wayne Dunkin made the motion to adjourn at 7:28 P.M. Councilman Tommy Perry seconded the motion.
