Ponytails to play in Eufala

The Hartselle Ponytails All-Stars advanced to the state tournament Saturday, winning the District 1 Tournament in Greenhill. The Ponytails were an undefeated 5-0 at the tournament and outscored their opponents 44-13 in those games.
Hartselle opened the tournament with a 10-0 win over Central-Florence July 1, following that up with a 7-2 win over Muscle Shoals July 3. July 6, the All-Stars continued their winning ways with a 6-1 victory over Underwood. Friday Hartselle advanced to the championship game with a 14-4 win over Muscle Shoals.
In the championship game Saturday night, Hartselle faced its biggest test of the tournament before coming away with a 7-6 win over Underwood.
The Ponytails advanced to the state tournament in Eufala, which begins Saturday and continues through Tuesday. They are scheduled to face Montgomery American in the first round Saturday at noon.
