Lester Layne Griffin

A graveside service for Lester Layne Griffin, 94, of Smithville, Tenn was Saturday, July 8, in Milton Cemetery in Milton, Tenn. with David Turner officiating and Jennings &Ayers Funeral Home of Murfreesboro, Tenn. directing.
Mr. Griffin died Wednesday, July 5, 2006, at Stones River Manor in Murfreesboro. He was born Dec. 2, 1911, in Wilson County, Tenn., to Ballard and Mettie Cunningham Griffin. He lived most of his life in DeKalb County, Tenn. He was a self-employed businessman, a shriner for more than 50 years and an active member of First Baptist Church in Smithville. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Laura Hancock Griffin.
He is survived by a daughter, Lillian Griffin Knight-Lawrence and husband James B. Lawrence of Murfreesboro, Tenn. and Hartselle; a brother, John Doyle Griffin of Watertown, Tenn.; a sister, Dara Griffin Shaver of Woodbridge, Va.; three grandchildren, Ronnie Knight and wife Rosaline, Randy Knight and wife Debbie and Ricky Knight and wife Phyllis; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Stones River Manor in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
