Sign-ups beginning
Sign-ups are under way for the Morgan County Parks and Recreation Department adult softball leagues. The men's church league at South Park will have a 14-game schedule between the months of July and September. The entry fee is $375 per team due by June 30. The men's fall league at West Park and the co-ed fall league at South Park will have 14-game schedules between August and October. The entry fee is $375 and is due July 14. Andrews earns another honor
University of Montevallo sophomore and former Hartselle star Zach Andrews was named for another postseason award recently. He was selected to the First Team of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America All-America Team for NCAA Division II.
Andrews was the only relief pitcher in the nation who was named to the first team. He was also the lone player from the Gulf South Conference to earn first team honors.
Andrews finished the season with a 6-1 record and a 2.53 ERA and set a new Montevallo record with 11 saves in 2006. Earlier this year, he was named to the second team of the American Baseball Coaches Association All-America Team and was also a first team All-Gulf South Conference member.
Amateur boxing set
There will be amateur boxing this Saturday starting at 7 p.m. at Clairday's Boxing and Sports Center in Hartselle. Spectator seats are $10 for adults and $5 for children. For more information, call 773-5269.
Fall soccer signup now
League registration is already under way for the fall season of Hartselle's youth soccer league. Signups are every Monday in June at the Sparkman Civic Center from 6 to 8 p.m. The fee is $65 per player with an additional $10 concession fee.
Cheer clinic planned soon
The Hartselle cheerleading clinic will be June 19-23. Sessions are daily from 9 a.m. until noon and will be taught by the Hartselle High varsity cheerleading squad. The cost to attend is $35 per student ages 4 and older and includes a T-shirt. Please register and pay by June 16.
Disc golf every Tuesday
Area Frisbee golfers are invited to meet every Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Sparkman Park for a free tournament.
