Hartselle School Board met briefly on May 24 to consider teacher resignations and transfers on the recommendation of school principals and Superintendent Dr. Mike Reed. Approved by unanimous vote were seven resignations and 18 transfers. They are listed as follows:
Resignations effective May 26:
Transfers:
Reed told board members recommendations for personnel transfers came from principals and that each teacher affected had been made aware of the proposed change. He said under state law a teacher has a right to appeal a board decision on a transfer request by filing notice with the central office not later than 15 days after the transfer is approved.
Hartselle High Principal Jerry Reeves said some of the changes within the math department were precipitated by a drop in enrollment for AP geometry classes.
"Things are shaping up quite well for next year as far as personnel are concerned," Reed said after the meeting. "We'll be hiring some new teachers to fill vacancies later."
