Amy Irene Aycock and Jerry Trent Green, both of Birmingham, were wed Saturday, April 8, 2006, at 6 p.m. at Samford University’s Reid Chapel with Dr. Walter Lowey Jr. officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Malcom Aycock of Hartselle. The groom is the son of retired Maj. Gen. and Mrs. Ronald Chris Spivey of Alexander City and the late Jerry Woodrow Green.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a pearl Italian silk gown by designer Anne Barge. Shirring of silk tulle on each side enhanced the ball gown’s strapless bodice. Layers of ruched silk satin covered the gown’s skirt, which swept to a chapel length train.
Her veil of pearl illusion had both an elbow length blusher and a cathedral length tier, both with scattered Swarovski crystals. Completing her ensemble was a headpiece of tiny crystals. She carried a bouquet of roses, hydrangeas, orchids and lily of the valley.
Barkley Franklin Aycock of Atlanta, sister of the bride, was matron of honor.
Jodi Willene Wallis of Birmingham was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Rebecca Clardy Edwards of Gardendale, Amy Green Harbarger of Huntsville, sister of the groom, Allison Jones Kersten and Lauren Ray Newman, both of Birmingham, Andrea Smith Pitman of Decatur, and Kathryn Aycock Rooks of Princeton, N.J., cousin of the bride.
Honor attendants were Tonia Gaskin Easley of Grenada, Miss., Chere/ Boggs Dobbs, Melinda Wood Grayson and Megan Rutland Mileski, all of Birmingham.
Attendants wore two-piece celadon chiffon gowns with a strapless shirred bodice and an A-line skirt. They carried hand-tied bouquets of roses and hydrangeas.
Ella Austin Pitman and Morgan Elizabeth Pitman, both of Decatur, were flower girls. Jackson Franklin Harbarger and Samuel Wilson Harbarger, nephews of the groom, both of Huntsville, were ring bearers.
Stewart Sealy Wilbanks of Birmingham was best man.
Groomsmen were Bradley Perceval Buzbee of Tampa, Fla., Joe Todd Dowdle of Auburn, Andrew Franklin Farris of Covington, La., Jason Eric Moore of Cullman, Gregory Brent Kelley, Clifton Harris Nolan and Kenneth Evan Riley, all of Birmingham.
Ushers were Jeffery Reeves Adair and Andrew William Tamplin III, both of Birmingham, Jon Brandon Foshee of Alexander City, Coy Brady Herring of Baton Rouge, La., and Christopher Robert Walls of Shreveport, La.
David Wheeler Harbarger, of Huntsville, nephew of the groom, assisted in the lighting of the memorial candle.
Tricia Pointer Helton of Pensacola, Fla. attended the bride’s book. Allison Leigh Hill of Birmingham was program attendant.
Music was provided by organist Hunter Goff, soloist Kari Campbell McCoy, violist Michael Fernandez, second violinist Bonnie Furuto, cellist Patty Pilon, and first violinist Daniel Szasz.
Wedding coordinator was Ann Creasman of Birmingham.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at The Club of Birmingham.
The couple honeymooned in Italy. They will reside in Mountain Brook.
A rehearsal party hosted by the groom’s parents was held April 7 at the Summit Club of Birmingham.
A bridal luncheon hosted by Mrs. William Dobbs, aunt of the bride, and Mrs. Alan Dobbs was held April 1 at Restaurant G of Birmingham.
