Weddings and engagements

Fisher, Bennett exchange vows
Emily Jo Fisher and Michael Jason Bennett, both of Helena, were wed March 4 at 5:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Hartselle with the Rev. Robert Sparkman officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Greg Fisher of Hartselle. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Bennett of Helena.
The bride, given in marriage by her parents, chose a formal gown of ivory duchess satin. The strapless gown featured hand sewn mirror sequins, bugle beads, and pearls in a floral design beneath the empire waist. A full ball gown skirt of boxed pleats fell from the deep Basque waistline and swept to a semi-cathedral length train.
She wore a chapel length ivory silk illusion veil trimmed in silver lace heavily embroidered with sequins and pearls. She carried a bouquet of hydrangeas, white roses, calla lilies and freesia.
Shelly Fisher of Birmingham, sister of the bride, was maid of honor.
Bridal attendants were Angela Baker, Holly Veasey Chaney, Emily Harris Crow, Sarah Bennett, sister of the groom, and Tristan Tucker, all of Birmingham, Melia Hollis of Sumiton, Shannon Riley of Huntsville, and Renee Cancilla Bass of Auburn.
Lauren Montgomery of Athens and Jessica Johnson of Toney were flower girls. Anderson Newman of Helena was ring bearer.
The groom's father was best man.
Groomsmen were Brandon Owen, Brian Owen and Clint Chaney, all of Birmingham, Jason Evans of Denton, Texas, Joshua Cain of Panama City, Fla., Mark Oils of Madison, Scott Noyes of Columbus, Ga., and Joey Hamm of Auburn.
Music was provided by accompanist Ellen Bean, trumpeter Ken Engle and soloist Erica Garrison, all of Hartselle, and soloist Adam Cummings of Sumiton.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Burningtree Country Club.
Cherie King and Amy Robinson were wedding directors.
Chrissy Jensen Harper of Helena attended the bride's book.
The couple honeymooned in Oahu, Hawaii. They reside in Helena.
A rehearsal party hosted by the groom's parents was held at Burningtree Country Club.
A bridal luncheon was held Feb. 26 at the home of hostess Nannette Miller, co-hosted by Patti Lovelady and Sharion Lusk.

Simmons, Griffith exchange vows
Karen Lee Simmons and Roy Wayne Griffith, both of Hartselle, were wed Feb. 17, 2006, at Oak Ridge Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Elder officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Cheryl and Gary Peck of Hartselle and the late Wendel Simmons. The groom is the son of Gearldine Griffith of Hartselle and the late Leroy Griffith.
Carroll, McDonald to wed May 20
Shaun and Christy Vest of Danville announce the engagement of their daughter, Wendy Cassandra Carroll, to Jay Allen McDonald, son of James and Kim McDonald of Danville.
The bride-elect is a graduate of Addison High School and Wallace State Community College with a degree in nursing. She is employed with Cullman Regional Medical Center and Huntsville Hospital. She is the granddaughter of Trillis and Sandra Hightower of Danville.
The groom-elect is a graduate of West Point High School. He is employed with JM Door Company. He is the grandson of Johnny and Rosalee McDonald of Vinemont.
The wedding will be held May 20 at Piney Grove Methodist Church.
Kelso, Shaneyfelt to wed April 15
Richard and Jaye Kelso of Hartselle announce the engagement of their daughter, Ashley Maegan Kelso, to Kevin Philip Shaneyfelt, son of Gary and Lori Shaneyfelt of Hartselle.
The bride-elect is a 2002 graduate of Hartselle High School and a 2005 graduate of Wallace State Community College with an associate's of applied science degree in diagnostic medical sonography. She is the granddaughter of Elbert "Red" Kennedy of Cragford, Eddie Jacobs of Alex City, Virginia Kelso of Decatur, the late Naomi Jacobs, the late Barbara Ann Kennedy Jacobs, and the late Hoyt O'Neal Kelso.
The groom-elect is a 2002 graduate of Hartselle High School and a 2005 graduate of Calhoun Community College with an associate's of applied science degree in electrical technology.
He is the grandson of Gila and Forrest Risberg of Birmingham, Willow Dean Shaneyfelt of Hartselle and the late Lester Shaneyfelt.
The wedding will be held April 15 at Salem United Methodist Church.
Smith, Vest to wed March 25
Daniel and Laurie Smith of Falkville announce the engagement of their daughter, Sarah Rebecca Smith, to Tony Chadrick "Chad" Vest, son of Tony and Donna Vest of Hartselle.
The bride-elect is a 2005 graduate of Falkville High School and is currently attending Wallace State Community College where she is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and dean's list. She is employed with Country Hearth Inn. She is the granddaughter of Richard and Jean Greer of Falkville and the late Fred and Arizona Smith.
The groom-elect is a 2005 graduate of Hartselle High School. He is employed with Jackson Plumbing and serves with the Alabama Army National Guard, Hartselle Unit. He is the grandson of Jimmy and Jean Self of Hartselle, Mary Bost of Vinemont, and the late Dewey and Doroty Sharrott Vest.
The wedding will be held March 25 at 2 p.m. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Thomas Greer of Courtland, uncle and aunt of the bride.
