HHS boosters to hold chili dinner
The Hartselle Athletic Booster Club is sponsoring a chili supper Jan. 31 from 4 to 7 p.m. It will be held in the high school cafeteria before the varsity basketball games and all proceeds will go toward Hartselle sports programs.
Tickets are $5 for dine-in only, all-you-can-eat, and $15 per gallon for take-out orders.
Dixie Youth registration soon
Hartselle Dixie Youth baseball registration for the 2006 season will start Jan. 31 and continue through Feb. 21 at the Encore Sports Enhancement Center on Highway 31, South.
Morgan hoops club is forming
Morgan Basketball Club is looking for girls ages 11-12 for travel teams to play beginning in March. For more information e-mail info@morganbask-etball.org or go to www.morganbask-etball.org.
Hartselle JV wrestling update
Hartselle competed at the Athens "Last Man Standing" tournament Jan. 21, concluding the team's wrestling season.
Kenneth Sammons took second place in the 154-pound division, and Wade Blaylock (97-pound) and Steven Hames (heavyweight) finished third. Brandon Kent took fourth place in the 167-pound class.
HJHS 7th grade football honored
Hartselle varsity football coach Bob Godsey recently honored the Hartselle seventh-grade football team at the halftime of a Tigers eighth-grade basketball game Jan. 9.
Godsey presented the team with T-shirts commemorating the Tigers' undefeated season. Hartselle's seventh-grade team finished the year 5-0 and averaged 28 points on offense.
Hartselle opened its season with a 26-6 win over Walker, followed by a 36-0 win over Oak Park, a 16-0 win over Brookhaven, a 36-0 win over Athens and a 14-0 win over Cedar Ridge.
"That's a good group of kids," Godsey said. "They don't mind working hard and that's going to obviously help them further down the line once they move on in their playing careers."
