Jan. 26, 1956 -Decatur Petroleum Haulers will pay Hartselle Church of God minister the Rev. R. Alex Adams and his family the sum of $8,800. This represents an out-of-court settlement today related to a wreck that occurred on U.S. 31 in May of 1953.
Jan. 26, 1956 -Billy Sims has returned to Florence State Teachers College to resume his studies after spending a short between-quarter vacation here with homefolks.
Jan. 27, 1956 -Hartselle radio and television instructor Jimmy Yarbrough has qualified himself to teach and perform color TV servicing.
Jan. 27, 1956 -Troy L. Nunn, grand master of Alabama Masons, is the first man from Morgan County to hold the senior position in the state lodge. E. A. Oden, also of Hartselle, is grand deacon for the state.
Jan. 28, 1956 -At mid-term graduation exercises at UA's Foster Auditorium today, Johnny Lloyd Cain was awarded a B.S. in history.
Jan. 28, 1956 -T. F. "Cotton" McDaniel, 39-year-old Hartselle man, was seriously injured in a two-car collision in downtown Cullman last night.
Jan. 29, 1956 -A baby daughter, born to Mr. and Mrs. Paul Prince at Hartselle Hospital on the eighteenth, is bringing much joy to this local family.
Jan. 30, 1956 -Sheriff's deputies are searching for a couple of men who robbed a service station north of Hartselle not long after midnight, getting away with $36-$50. The Kayo station attendant, M. H. Brothers, said the money was taken shortly after he had pumped $2 worth of gas for their car.
Jan. 30, 1956 -Skipper Drinkard, MCHS student and band member, has accepted an invitation to entertain at the annual Chamber of Commerce 4-H Club Day in Birmingham. Pianist Annie Ruth Waldsmith will probably accompany Drinkard's sax solos.
Jan. 31, 1956 -Mr. and Mrs. Burl Hardwick and daughter, Sandra, have completed the move from Danville to their new home just north of Hartselle this week. (Mrs. Hardwick passed away on Jan.10, 2006.)
Feb. 1, 1956 -The appointment of Doc Francis as agent of Standard Oil bulk operations and jobber for the southern half of Morgan County, became effective today. He succeeds A. D. Sample who was the agent for the past 25 years.
