Hawks take 3rd place at New Hope tournament

Danville's Hawks overcame a two-point halftime deficit to defeat New Hope 73-69 in the consolation round of the New Hope Christmas Tournament Friday, Dec 30. The win earned the Hawks a third-place finish in the tourney.
Chris Vest led the Hawks in scoring with 25 points. Zack Orr followed with 18 points and Stratton Garner and Tyree Murphy added 11 points each. Orr and Garner had 11 and seven rebounds, respectively, and Murphy was credited with four assists.
Leading New Hope in scoring was Joel McCutcheon with 16 points. Trey Brandon added 15, Anthony Downey, 14, and Chase Gibson, 10.

Danville girls 33
Ardmore's Lady Tigers led Danville's Lady Hawks 25-18 at halftime and went on to claim a 41-33 win in the consolation finals of the New Hope Christmas Tournament Dec. 30.
Brittany Miles paced the winners with 11 points while Jennifer Mills added nine points.
Danville (9-4) was led by Alaina Fitzgerald who scored 14 points. Kristen Sparkman added eight points.
Lauren Simmons scored six points and pulled down 11 rebounds while Kassie Cowart was credited with six steals and three assists.
Madison County girls 46
Danville girls 36
The Lady Hawks fell in the first round of the New Hope Christmas Tournament Dec. 29, dropping a 10-point loss to Madison County.
Danville's Kristen Sparkman and Haley Hensley both scored nine points to lead the Lady Hawks.
Lauren Simmons and Alaina Fitzgerald each added seven. Fitzgerald also led the Lady Hawks with nine rebounds and six assists.
Samantha White scored 16 for the victorious Tigers.
