Dec. 15, 1955 -Today was Kid's Day in Hartselle. Students from 12 local schools were represented in this program sponsored annually by the local American Legion post. Five hundred children were given a joyous Christmas they will never forget.
Dec. 15, 1955 -A low of 15 is expected tonight. No snow is expected to accompany the frigid temperatures, however.
Dec.16, 1955 -Christmas vacations began for MCHS and the elementary school students this afternoon.
Dec.16, 1955 -More than $2,500 worth of Christmas seals have been sold in Morgan County during the holiday season thus far. Proceeds from the drive will benefit patients suffering with tuberculosis.
Dec. 16, 1955 -Though their football team went winless this fall, Alabama Crimson Tide fans still have something in sports to celebrate during this holiday season: Coach Johnny Dee's Rocket Eight basketball team is ranked fifth in the nation.
Dec. 17, 1955 -Evelyn Howell, second grade teacher at Hartselle Elementary, led the singing at the recent Delta Kappa Gamma Christmas party at Hotel Lyons in Decatur.
Dec.18, 1955 -The Christmas cantata, "While Shepherds Watched," was presented at the Falkville Methodist Church this afternoon.
Dec.19, 1955 -For local residents wishing to celebrate the holiday season with lunch out of town, the Cornelian hotel in Decatur is offering roast sirloin of beef with a selection of three vegetables for 75 cents.
Dec. 20, 1955 -B. G. Hall, L. T. Wagnon, Mrs. H. M. Betterton, W. H. Stewart, and Jack Hoffhaus of Hartselle have been selected as members of the board of directors of the newly incorporated United Fund of Morgan County.
Dec. 21, 1955 -Second Lt. Jim Long of Falkville, last year's captain of the Auburn football squad, has recently been assigned to Bolling AFB. At Bolling he has become a member of the powerful football "Generals," one of the top teams in service football. He and his War Eagle teammate, Fob James, are both currently on active duty in the military.
Dec. 21, 1955 -The beautiful new home of Mr. and Mrs. Hancel Glover has won the Christmas decorations contest sponsored by the Danville home demonstration club.
