Chamber deserves our thanks
Editor,
I would like to express my thanks to the Hartselle Area Chamber of Commerce, its staff, members and every volunteer who put their hands into making Depot Day 2005 such a great day.
We had a big turnout that started early and lasted throughout the day. I hope all the merchants also did and are already looking forward to next year to be an even bigger event.
So again, thank you to the Chamber and to all who attended and made Depot Day a great day for Hartselle.

City should maintain trees
Editor,
About three months ago, a limb fell on the automobile of a woman as she drove west on East Main Street (in front of the fire department). This was the second such incident from that same tree. I counted 14 such trees as I drove east on East Main.
Many of these trees with limbs overhanging the street are rotten and need to be trimmed. This limb cost the innocent driver a $500 deductible for her insurance to pay for the damage.
The city of Hartselle should have paid this because it was neglectful to not trim the dead limb.
The next victim may not be as generous and kindhearted to pay their own deductible as their victim was. May I suggest more attention be paid to possible safety hazards?
