Quimby A. Nelson

Funeral for Quimby A. Nelson, 88, of Decatur was Friday, May 13, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Jack Nelson and Hal Dalgre officiating.
Burial was in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Nelson died Wednesday, May 11, 2005, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Jan. 29, 1917, in Morgan County to William Nelson and Mattie Lee Ray Nelson. He was a member of IBEW Local 558 for 51 years. He was also a member of Flint City Council for 28 years, one of the original founders of Flint Volunteer Fire Department and former police chief of Flint Police Department for 10 years.,
He is survived by his wife, Elsie P. Nelson of Decatur; one son, Charles W. Nelson of Decatur; one daughter, Rebecca N. Turner and husband Clay of Decatur; one sister, Mamie Shultz of Hendersonville, Tenn.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
