Information comes from records
Editor:
Recently, at a city council, I revealed the sources of information for the letters that I write. I disclosed that sources were the newspapers, the Internet, and business owners, but that the council, themselves, were the best of my sources. I expressed to them that I write all of my own letters, therefore debunking many fallacious rumors. I have heard from numerous sources that some say that I am uneducated, uninformed, ill mannered and full of hate for people in positions of power.
The thing that concerns me the most is that the fact that we have people in positions such as councilmen and other members of various boards or positions in Hartselle, that just can't grasp the idea that practically everything I write on is open record, and that any person can obtain the same information simply by asking. Thank you, Alabama Open Records Law and the Freedom of Information Act.
It also concerns me that two or three churches in Hartselle, (worked) to put people in certain positions, with only one goal in mind, which ultimately failed. It concerns me that I would have more knowledge in launching the next space shuttle, (of which, I have none), than some of these people actually knowing what to do in their appointed or elected positions.
When people are put in positions with a single goal in mind, it compromises that position, and performs a disservice to the entire population of Hartselle. It breaches the trust that should be between the elected or appointed people and the people that they govern or are in charge of.
So, I ask these people these questions. When you look at the person in the mirror, are you proud of whom you have become? Are you the same person during the week as you are in church on Sunday morning? Are you acting in the interest of all of Hartselle or just certain factions of Hartselle? Are you guilty of receiving "marching orders"?
