Attorney to address board
Hartselle School Board attorney Bill Shinn is expected to brief the board on the results of an Alabama Ethics Commission investigation at the April 21 school board meeting. The investigation centered around Hartselle High School Principal Jerry Reeves. Sources close to the investigation said Reeves has been cleared. Public meeting set on RR bridge
A proposed new two-lane bridge over the CSX Railroad and connecting roadway between North Sparkman and Georgia streets will be the subject of a public meeting from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 21, at City Hall.
The meeting was scheduled by the Alabama Department of Transportation to give citizens the opportunity to share comments about the $1.5 million project. Written comments will be received until 10 days after the meeting. Drawings and maps of the project area will be available for viewing and ALDOT representatives will be present to answer questions. A 30 percent review of the project's design and engineering has met with state approval.
Church planning yard sale
New Covenant Church youth will hold a yard sale Saturday, April 30, 6 a.m.-noon, at the church as part of the 30-Hour Hunger Feast. All proceeds from the sale will be used for playground equipment in Titanyen, Haiti, through Global Outreach and Oasis in the Desert missionaries David and Judy Heady. Donations of yard sale items and baked goods are being accepted for the event. New Covenant Church is located at 918 Slate St. SW in Hartselle.
