    Lady Tigers split four games, Tigers win six straight

    The Hartselle High Lady Tigers won their opening two games of the Bob Jones Invitational on Saturday, but then lost in elimination play to Hoover, before dropping a regular season game at Bob Jones on Monday night.
    Hartselle 4, Dobbyns-Bennett 0
    Breanna Segars had a perfect game going into the fifth inning against the Knoxville, Tenn. school, but gave up a walk in the inning and lost the no-hitter on a single in the sixth inning. Segars finished with six strikeouts as she won her second game of the season.
    Shanice Johnson was three-for-three with a double and one RBI, while Lindsay Robinson had two hits, including a double and a RBI.
    Segars had two hits to aid her own cause.
    Hartselle 3, Enterprise 2
    Mary Curtis had a shutout until the seventh inning when she allowed an earned run. The second Enterprise run was unearned as Curtis improved to 5-3 and finished with eight strikeouts during her five-hitter.
    Johnson had two hits, while Sarah Whitlow had two hits and scored one run. Kayla Orr had one hit, one RBI and scored once.
    Hoover 3, Hartselle 1
    Curtis took the loss, despite allowing only four hits and two earned runs, while striking out seven.
    Orr had two hits and scored once, while Segars had one hit and Elizabeth Stejskal had an RBI.
    Bob Jones 10, Hartselle 3
    The Lady Patriots scored six runs in the bottom of the first inning to put the game away.
    Johnson was three-for-four with a double and one RBI, while Robinson had a solo home run. Segars had one hit and Stejskal had one hit and scored one run.
    Hartselle is now 12-9.
    The Hartselle Tigers swept Athens on the road Tuesday and then won two games Saturday at Prattville and two more at Russellville on Monday for a six-game winning streak as they improved to 26-13 overall.
    Hartselle 12, Athens 1
    Andrew Reeves improved to 7-2 with a five inning three-hit performance. Reeves struck out eight and walked none. Cody Stisher finished the game with two strikeouts and didn't allow a hit.
    At the plate, Hunter Brasher was two-for-two with two runs scored and a stolen base. Chris Wiley had one hit, one RBI and scored a run. Justin Hargett was two-for-three with two runs scored. He smashed a two-run homer in the second inning. Jordan Parker was two-for-three. He scored one run while hitting a two-run homer.
    Ja'Cote Ward had one hit, scored two runs and stole a base, while Justin Youngblood was two-for-three with two RBIs. Kris Berry had a hit and scored a run, while Michael Scott had a three-for-three game, scored twice and had a two-run homer. Alex Thompson had one hit and scored once, while Josh Walters had one hit, a two-RBI single. Zac Long scored once as a pinch runner.
    Hartselle 14, Athens 1
    Keith McCaghren (3-2) threw three innings of four-hit ball to pick up the win. He walked none and struck out three. Jacob Wray threw one inning and struck out two, while Steven Chop added one inning of no-hit relief.
    Wiley powered the Tiger attack with a two-run homer and had three RBIs, while Hargett had one hit, scored once and stole a base. Parker had two hits and scored twice while stealing a base. Seth Watson had two hits, including a double, scored twice and drove in two, while Brasher scored one run. Youngblood had one hit, walked twice and scored three runs and stole a base. Joe McClanahan went two-for-two, including a double and scored three runs. Daxton Maze had one hit, three RBIs and stole a base, while Scott had a RBI.
    Hartselle 19, Robert E. Lee 0
    Andrew Reeves improved to 8-2 with two innings of no-hit, four-strikeout pitching. Watson then threw two innings allowing one hit and striking out the side both innings, while Alex Agee threw one inning, allowed two hits and struck out two.
    Ward had a big day at the plate going four-for-four, including three doubles and drove in four runs, while scoring four times. Wiley had a solo homer and scored twice, while McClanahan had one hit, one RBI and scored twice. Hargett had one hit, two walks and scored three runs, while Nathan Kimbrell had one hit, two RBIs and scored two runs.
    Youngblood had one hit, one RBI and scored once, while TJ Long had a hit and a RBI. Daxton Maze had a home run a double and drove in four runs, while scoring once. Walters had one hit and two RBIs, while Scott was three-for-three with a home run, three RBIs and scored two runs. Berry had one hit.
    Hartselle 14, Prattville 1
    Chris Russell improved to 6-3 with three innings of two-hit ball and struck out five. Zach Smith threw two innings of one hit ball and fanned four.
    Youngblood was three-for-four with two RBIs and scored once, while Brasher had one hit, walked twice and scored three runs. Ward went two-for-three, drove in four runs and scored three times, while Parker had two hits, four RBIs and scored two runs. Hargett had one hit and two RBIs, while Wiley had one hit and one RBI. Watson had a two-RBI double.
    Hartselle 11, Russellville 1
    The Tigers clinched a postseason berth with the win and can wrap up the 5A, Area 16 title with their next area win.
    Zach Smith improved to 6-2 with four inning of six-hit ball. He allowed only one run and struck out four. Chop threw the final two innings and allowed only one hit.
    At the plate, Hargett was three-for-four with a double and two home runs. He drove in four and scored three times. Parker had two hits and scored a run, while Wiley had a hit and scored a run. Watson had a home run and drove in two. Scott had two hits, two stolen bases and scored twice, while Thompson had two hits, two RBIs and scored one run. Youngblood and Brasher had one stolen base each.
    Hartselle 7, Russellville 6
    Reeves improved to 9-2 with five innings of two-hit ball. He fanned nine and didn't allow a earned run. Wray threw one inning and struck out the side. Watson picked up the save after Stisher allowed four runs.
    McClanahan led the Tiger hitters with a three-for-three game with two RBIs on two doubles. McCaghren had two hits, a RBI and scored once, while Brasher had one hit and scored a run. Parker had a hit, while Hargett stole a base. Watson had a RBI-double and scored one run, while Youngblood stole a base and scored once. Maze had one hit, one RBI and scored twice. Ward stole two bases while running for the Tiger catchers.
