March 10, 1955 -For the first time in school history, all the top student officers at MCHS are females-Nancy Jo Burleson, president; Mary Orr, vice-president; and Jan Ward, secretary-treasurer.
March 10, 1955 -The Hickory Street-Sparkman Street traffic light has been out of order for several weeks.
March 11, 1955 -Bobby Ray Hicks, Bob Orr, and Ralph Pattillo, U of A students, spent the weekend here with homefolks.
March 11, 1955 -Local black leaders report that a new NAACP top executive was selected today, Mr. Roy Wilkins.
March 12, 1955 -Hartselle fisherman "Cotton" McDaniel is making frequent trips to Second Creek, below Wheeler Dam, and is catching a lot of small-mouth bass at this site.
March 12, 1955 -The current issue of the Saturday Evening Post has already sold out at local drug stores. It features 12 pages of previous Post Norman Rockwell covers.
March 13, 1955 -Salk polio vaccine to protect Hartselle children from this dreaded illness is expected to be available locally within the next several weeks.
March 14, 1955 -Former Hartselle furniture dealer Monte Black is currently building a tourist court at Destin, Florida.
March 14, 1955 -According to a report received in Huntsville today, a U.S. satellite launch is definitely feasible within the near future. Several Hartselle men are involved in this program.
March 15, 1955 -Ross V. Ford died. He served as principal of Morgan County High School during the 1953-54 term. Before this he was principal of Falkville High School.
March 15, 1955 -Morgan County's number one 4-H Club entertainer is 13-year-old MCHS student, Skipper Drinkard. His first place victory over 24 other finalists puts him in the state finals at Auburn in July. He won with a sax medley of "Tenderly" and "I Don't Hurt Anymore."
March 16, 1955 -Rev. Darryl Harris began preaching a revival at West Hartselle Baptist Church tonight. The church is located on Highway 33 (Danville Road), one mile west of Hartselle.
