Funeral for Floyd D. McAbee, 82, Southside, was Sunday, Jan. 16, at Crestwood Funeral Home Chapel in Gadsden with the Rev. Jerald Adams officiating.
Entombment was in Crestwood Mausoleum with Crestwood Funeral Home directing.
Mr. McAbee died Friday, Jan. 14, 2005. He was born March 24, 1922, in Morgan County to William C. "Bill" and Mary Jane Sams McAbee. He served in the 42nd Rainbow Division during World War II, in the U.S. Army. He was co-owner of C and L Machine Shop in Glencoe. He was an instructor at Alabama School of Trade in East Gadsden. Mr. McAbee was a longtime member of Paden Baptist Church and 50-year member of the Masons at the Glencoe Lodge. He was preceded in death by his wife, Quida M. McAbee.
He is survived by two daughters, Sandra Lee Homan and husband Rodney of Coates Bend and Rita Diane Johnson of Madison; three grandchildren, Shannon Lee Trulson and husband Russell of Southside, Holly Diane Golden and husband Kenneth of Eva and Tracy Dawn Rongisch and husband Paul of Madison; two great-grandchildren, Kenneth Blake Golden and Madison Page Rongisch; one sister, Mildred Speakman of Birmingham; one brother, Lloyd McAbee and wife Ozelle of Hartselle; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers were Russell Dean Trulson, Kenneth Wayne Golden, Stephen Phillip Holman and Rodney Gene Holman.
