Falkville-based industry Lone Wolf Trailers sustained heavy damage Friday afternoon when a fire broke out in its paint department.
Firefighters fought the blaze for about two hours before bringing it under control, according to a spokesperson for Falkville Volunteer Fire Department.
"We received the call at 4 p.m. and responded by sending out two engine companies and a ladder company," she said. "We also received backup help from Hartselle, Ebenezer, Oak Ridge, Oden Ridge, Massey, Danville, Flint and Neel. After we got the fire under control, we were there for another hour and a half cleaning up," she said.
Damage to the building and its equipment and furnishings was extensive but plans are to keep the business going, according to Gary Murphy, president.
"We have a couple of buildings on the premises that weren't damaged," he said. "Our plans are to use them for production operations temporarily and to start rebuilding the main plant as soon as weather will permit."
"We will be able to continue to operate on a reduced basis and are looking for ways to keep our people on the job," he pointed out.
"The people we do business with have offered their wholehearted support and encouragement in the face of a difficult situation," he added. "We appreciate that and thank the many people from this area who have come to our rescue."
