Funeral for Ellen Kirby, 87, of Madisonville, Ky., was Saturday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home Chapel in Madisonville with Bro. Danny Strader and Rev. Ronald Hendricks officiating.
A graveside service was Sunday, Nov. 28, at 2 p.m. at Cullman Memory Gardens in Cullman with Pastor Kyle Poole officiating and Barnett-Strother Funeral Home of Madisonville directing.
Mrs. Kirby died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, at NHC Nursing Home in Madisonville. She was born Dec. 16, 1916, in McMinville, Tenn. to Ike Hill and Sally Pettigo Hill. She was a member of The Greater Lighthouse Pentecostal Church in Madisonville.
Mrs. Kirby was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Kirby in Jan. 1980; one daughter, Mary Elizabeth Jackson; one son, John Jackson; two sisters, Josie Jordan and Reba Sparkman; and two brothers, Elvie and Shelby Hill.
She is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Gurley and Abbie Taylor, both of Madisonville, Ky.; two sons, James L. Jackson of Birmingham and William Kirby of Chicago Heights, Ill.; one sister, Grace Sawyer of Bowden, Ga.; one brother, Joe Hill of Bowden, Ga.; fourteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were James Jackson, Carlos Gurley, William Kirby, John Jackson Jr., Joseph Jackson and Jay Crane.
Memorials may be made to the Greater Lighthouse Missions Department.
