Engagements and weddings

Armstrong, Whatley to wed
Mr. and Mrs. John Armstrong of Ridgeland, Miss., announce the engagement of their daughter, Amy Leigh Armstrong, to William Daniel Whatley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Todd Whatley of Hartselle.
The bride-elect is a 2000 graduate of Jackson Preparatory School and a graduate of Mississippi State University where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Blossman of Jackson, Miss., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Lester Armstrong.
The groom-elect is a 2000 graduate of Hartselle High School and is currently pursuing a degree in civil engineering at Mississippi State University.
He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. James Staudt of Hartselle and Mr. and Mrs. Billy Joe Whatley of Falkville.
The wedding will be held Aug. 7 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Richard Catholic Church in Jackson, Miss.
Chandler, Chunn to wed Aug. 28
Paul and Ames Ellis of Selma and William Marion Chandler Jr. of Newport, Ark., announce the engagement of their daughter, Sherry Ames Chandler of Selma, to Matthew Shannon Chunn of Jacksonville, Fla., son of Russell and Donna Chunn of Lacey's Spring.
The bride-elect is a 1999 graduate of John T. Morgan Academy and a 2004 graduate of The University of Alabama with a bachelor's of science degree in human development and family studies. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Nunn Ware of Selma and Mr. and Mrs. William Marion Chandler of Adamsville.
The groom-elect is a 1998 graduate of Way Home Christian School, a 2002 graduate of The University of Alabama with a bachelor's of science degree in accounting, and a 2004 graduate of The University of Alabama with a master's of business administration. He is a member of the UA Speech Team and is employed at Wachovia of Jacksonville, Fla. as a financial advisor. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. William Thomas White of Lacey's Spring and the late Mr. and Mrs. Escomb Howard Chunn.
The wedding will be held Aug. 28 at First Presbyterian Church in Selma.
Aycock, Franklin exchange vows
Barkley Danielle Aycock of Hartselle and Brian Andrew Franklin of Atlanta, Ga., were wed Saturday, July 17, 2004 at 2:30 p.m. at Lebanon Baptist Church with the Rev. A. Ray Lee officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Malcom Aycock of Hartselle. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Franklin of Lilburn, Ga.
The church and altar were adorned with white roses.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore an Eve of Milady silk satin strapless gown with fitted bodice, beaded "V" waist and full skirt with attached train. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of Bianca, Escimo and Vendela roses with a bow of sheer Midori ribbon.
Amy Irene Aycock of Homewood, sister of the bride, was maid of honor.
Bridal attendants were Corrie Webb Bray of Lawrenceville, Ga., Renee Marie Cancilla of Birmingham, Terri Chandler Preuitt of Hartselle, Kathryn Aycock Rooks of Decatur, and Lauren Brooke Sulcer of Auburn.
Honor attendants were Elizabeth Anne Franklin and Mary Katherine Franklin of Lilburn, Ga., Stephanie Rae Kanute of Pleasant Grove, Jennifer Joanne Orr of Carmel, Ind., and Laurie Carol Speegle of Birmingham.
Attendants wore long, ivory and biscuit two-piece gowns with an organza overlay and carried bouquets of Vendela roses.
Emma Claire Bennich of Hartselle was flower girl.
Bradley Aaron Franklin of Rome, Ga., brother of the groom, was best man.
Groomsmen were Richard Brandon Bray of Lawrenceville, Ga., Chadwick Allen Bryant and George Ryan Hipp III of Marietta, Ga., and Brian Stephen Webb of Fort Myers, Fla.
Music was provided by organist Judy Dobbs of Hartselle, soloist Scott Slate of Hartselle, trumpeter Zach Greenhaw of Tuscaloosa, and The Lyric Ensemble String Quartet featuring violinists Sharon Landis and Jacob Frank, cellist Desire/ Juricic and violist Robin Pettey.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Decatur Country Club.
The bride's table featured a three-tier square fondant covered cake monogrammed with the couple's initials and adorned with roses between each tier.
Cindy Greenhaw was wedding director.
Jana Legg Tucker of Hartselle attended the bride's book. Ginny Lind Grantland of Hartselle was program attendant.
The couple honeymooned in Seattle, Wash. They will reside in Hiram, Ga.
A rehearsal dinner hosted by the groom's parents was held at All Steak Restaurant in Cullman.
A bride's luncheon was held June 26 at Restaurant G in Birmingham hosted by Dana Aycock, Jo Cook, Lyn Cook and Chere/ Dobbs.
