George Turney Watkins

A memorial service for George Turney Watkins, 49, of New Orleans, La., will beheld Saturday, March 13, at the home of his brother, Bobby Watkins of Hartselle.
Mr. Watkins died Saturday, March 6, 2004, in New Orleans. He was born April 16, 1954, in England to Tech Sgt. George Fite and Johnnie Watkins. He was raised in military life and lived in Florida, Texas, Louisiana, New Hampshire and Alabama. He was a talented musician, singer and song writer and played in several bands across the southeast. His first band was named "Pearl" after his mother, Johnnie Pearl Turney Watkins.
He is survived by two sons, Chaillie and Woodward Watkins of Florence, one sister, Deborah Norman Watkins Powell of Austin, Texas; one brother, Bobby Watkins of Hartselle; niece, Melanie Laney Hunter of Austin, Texas; nephew, Nick Watkins of Hartselle; two great nieces, Justin and Jaxon Hunter of Austin, Tex.
