Funeral for George W. Mangum, Sr., 85, of Danville was Monday, Feb. 23, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ron Manley officiating.
Burial was in Enon Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Mangum died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004, at his residence. He was born March 26, 1918, in Etowah County to Richard Marion Mangum and Mattie Mae Dennis Mangum. He was a member of Pipefitters Local No. 377. He was a sergeant in the Army, serving during World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of Enon Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Joy Mangum of Danville; one son, George W. Mangum, Jr. of Decatur; two daughters, Vickie Yarbrough of Moulton and Linda Turner of Decatur; one step-son, Jimmy Dobbins of Danville; eight grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Lester Ray, Mike Randolph, Todd Shelton, Chip Baldwin and Keith Dougherty.
