Three teams reach state playoffs

Three local teams, the Brewer girls, the Priceville girls, and the Danville boys have all advanced to play in the state basketball playoffs. The seven other local teams lost in the semi-final round of area play eliminating them from state tourney play.
The Brewer girls will travel to Bradshaw for a meeting with the Lady Bruins while the Priceville girls will travel to Hatton to meet the Lady Hornets. Both games will be played on Thursday night. The Danville boys will travel to Rodgers to take on the Pirates Friday night.
Brewer girls
The Lady Patriots lost a heartbreaker in three overtime to the Athens Lady Golden Eagles 87-84 on their home floor Friday night in the finals of the 5A Area-15 tournament.
Brewer, now 19-9 this season, was led by Jessica Thompson with 25 points followed by Joellen Nay with 16 and Andrea Crawford with 13.
The Lady Patriots reached the area final with a dominating 70-45 win over Cullman.
Brewer raced to a 22-5 lead after one period and never were challenged by the Lady Bearcats.
Thompson lead Brewer in scoring with 26 while Heather Gore added 14 more for the Lady Patriots.
Priceville girls
The Priceville Lady Bulldogs fell 54-40 to the Tanner Lady Rattlers in the finals of the 2A Area-15 tourney. Junior Tiffany Smith led Priceville with 16 points and nine rebounds in the loss. Priceville is now 18-8 this season.
The Lady Bulldogs advanced to the finals with a 68-48 rout of Lexington in the semi-finals.
Priceville led by three at halftime before dominating the second half of play.
Stephanie Hardiman led Priceville with 20 points followed by Tiffany Smith with 17 and Kristy Baker with 12.
Danville boys
Danville fell to Ardmore 60-47 in the finals of the 3A Area-15 tournament. Nate Orr with 13 points and Patrick Pinchon lead the Danville offense.
The Hawks reached the area final with a 67-51 win over Elkmont. Orr and Pinchon scored 14 each while Matt Young and Stratton Garner scored 12 each for the Hawks.
Brewer boys
The Patriots fell to the Cullman Bearcats 60-42 in the semi-finals of area play. The loss ended the Brewer season.
Priceville boys
The Bulldogs lost 65-50 to Lexington in the area semi-finals to end the Priceville season. Alex Cannon was the only Bulldog in double figures with 12 points.
Priceville won their opening round area game 53-50 over Clements to reach the semi-finals. Josh Bedwell led the Bulldogs with 16 points while Dale Taylor added 15 more.
Priceville ended the season with a 13-15 record.
Danville girls
The Lady Hawks fell to West Limestone in the semi-finals of area play 69-43. Brittany Walden led the Danville offense with 17 points.
Danville won their opening round tourney game over West Morgan 58-54 to advance to the semi-final round.
Mallory Alred scored a game-high 24 points for the Lady Hawks.
Hartselle girls
The Lady Tigers season ended in the semi-finals of the 5A Area-15 tournament when they fell 47-32 to Athens. Shan Jones led Hartselle with 13 points.
Hartselle boys
The Tigers lost to the top ranked Athens Golden Eagles 69-48. Adam Cryer lead Hartselle with 14 points while Keith Rodgers and Nikita Stover added 10 each.
Falkville girls
The Lady Blue Devils fell to Tanner 58-30 in the semi-finals of 2A Area-15 play.
Falkville whipped Clements 48-39 to reach the semi-final round. Meagan Wiley led Falkville with 18 points while Jada Jones added 14 more. The win was Falkville's fifth straight.
Falkville boys
The Blue Devils lost 70-56 to Tanner in the semi-finals of 2A Area-15 play. Jonathon Lacey led Falkville with 19 points as their season ended.
