Henry J. Wesson

Funeral for Henry J. Wesson, 92, of Hartselle was Tuesday, Dec. 23, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Hartselle with Dr. Jeff Redmond and the Rev. Brooks Barkley officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in Hartselle City Cemetery.
Mr. Wesson died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, at his residence. He was born June 15, 1911, in Welch, La., to Henry Edward Wesson and Emma Pearl Gallup Wesson. He was retired from Procurement Supply at Redstone Arsenal. Mr. Wesson grew up in Brewton. He was a graduate of Auburn University. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Mr. Wesson was a member of First Baptist Church of Hartselle where he served for many years as a deacon and teacher of the men's Sunday school class. He was a charter member of the church library committee. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ella V. Wesson.
He is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn Payne Wesson of Hartselle; one son, Robert Edward Wesson and wife Bobbie of Hartselle; one daughter, Jane W. Turney and husband Doug of Hartselle; four grandchildren, Richard Preston Turney and wife Penny of Springville, Carol Ann Turney of Nashville, Clay Edward Wesson and Elizabeth Anne Wesson, both of Hartselle; and two great grandchildren, Payne Keith Turney and Arthur Douglas Turney, both of Springville.
Pallbearers were Charles Quinn, Tommie Dunlap, Roger Chapman, Joe Howell, Randy Maner and Steve McKee.
