George Robert 'Pop' Southard

Funeral for George Robert "Pop" Southard, 88, of Hartselle was Thursday, December 18, at 1 p.m. at Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Spears and Charles Sparks officiating.
Burial was in Parker Chapel Cemetery in Limestone County with Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Southard died Tuesday, December 16, 2003, at his residence. He was born May 14, 1915, in Jefferson County to Theodore Lee Southard and Pearl Mae Walls. He was a foreman for Burgreen Construction Company. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Hartselle. He was the widower of Nellie Elmore Southard and the father of the Barbara Southard and one step daughter, Ann Sumrall.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Southard of Hartselle; three sons, George Southard of Hartselle, John Southard of Harvest and Danny Southard of Athens; two step sons, Jerry Jetton and Jimmy Jetton, both of Hillsboro; one daughter, Marilyn Laxson of Athens; four step daughters, Melba Southard and Karen Jetton, both of Hartselle, Janice Mayfield of Hillsboro and Teresa Reid of Cullman; three grandchildren; one great grandchild; nine step grandchildren; and 8 step great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Charles Webster, Lawrence Southard, Ray Smith, Ricky Garner, Jackie Burgreen and David Talley.
