Kathryn Isley Thompson Poole

Funeral for Kathryn Isley Thompson Poole, 88, of Hartselle, was Monday, Nov. 24, at noon at First United Methodist Church of Hartselle with the Revs. WG Henry and Harold Thompson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in Hartselle City Cemetery.
Mrs. Poole died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, at Summerford Nursing Home in Falkville.
She was born December 13, 1914, in Morgan County to George Washington Isley and Sarah Muzzey Isley. She graduated from Morgan County High School in Hartselle in 1933, and held various teaching positions in Morgan County including Maple Grove, Priceville and Hartselle.
In 1952, Mrs. Poole established a private kindergarten and daycare in Hartselle which she continued for 40 years. She was an active member of Hartselle First United Methodist Church since moving to Hartselle in 1945. She served on many church boards and committees and her most prominent area of service was in coordinating children's preschool programs. She was also active in various civic organizations. Mrs. Poole was president of the parent group that was instrumental in organizing the first marching band at Morgan County High School in 1947. She was the widow of Louis Cline Thompson and Charles Edgbert Poole.
She is survived by two sons, Joe M. Thompson of Phenix City and Glenn Thompson of Hartselle; two daughters, Sarah Ann Evans of Hartselle and Carol Lewis of Marietta, Ga., 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Survivors also include stepson Douglas Poole of Danville; two step grandsons, and five step great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were grandsons Geoffrey Joe Thompson, William Howard Evans III, David Wesley Evans, Richard Hammond Lewis III, Cline Davis Thompson, and her eldest great grandson, Eric Coleman Shockley.
Memorials may be made to the building fund at First United Methodist Church in Hartselle.
