System has ninth highest tenure
The average teacher in the Hartselle City School system has some 14.92 years experience, the ninth highest number of all Alabama's school systems.
The figure was released last week by the Alabama Education Association.
The AEA said Hartselle City Schools have 199 teachers. Fifty-eight have bachelor's degrees, 133 have added a master's degree and eight have AA degrees.
The state average is 12.71 years experience.
Scholarship deadline set
The Volunteer Center of Morgan County has extended the deadline for applications for the Winter Prudential Youth Leadership Institute to Nov. 26. The institute is for youth 13-18 years of age. The six-week program is sponsored by the Volunteer Center of Morgan County, Decatur Youth Services and the Morgan County Extension System. For more information, call Mary K. Braddock at 355-8628.
