Quail Creek turns into Birdie Creek at HHS baseball golf tournament

About 90 golfers participated in the annual Hartselle Baseball Golf Tournament Saturday, with members of the Hartselle High School golf team taking home first place in Flight 1.
Hunter Roberts, Travis Wages and Dustin Burch, along with HHS head golf coach Jack Napier, went lower than any other team.
In Flight 2, Greg Hargett, Mike Lindsey, Keith Wright and Richard Riggs shot 62 for the top prize.
This year, though, Hartselle assistant baseball coach Chris Heaps said there weren't as many golfers out at the annual tournament.
"I made a mistake by scheduling the tournament on fall holiday," he said. Hartselle High School was out Monday and Tuesday of this week, so many were out of town. "We raised some good money, though, for travel experiences for the team."
Heaps also said volunteers made the tournament go much smoother.
"I thank all the parents and other volunteers for getting out and helping us, along with our sponsors," he said. "The parents get out there and monitor the holes so nobody can use the foot wedge and shoot 50. It's kept it honest and gave everybody a fair shot."
