James W. Lynn, Jr.

Funeral for James W. Lynn, Jr., 85, of Somerville was Tuesday, Oct. 7, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Robert Slack, Ralph McCollum and Cliff Mitchell officiating.
Burial was in Blue Springs Cemetery.
Mr. Lynn died Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born March 23, 1918, in Morgan County to James Wilson Lynn, Sr. and Lois Johnson Lynn. Mr. Lynn was a tenth generation member of the long prominent Lynn family, first settled in what is now America in 1730. He was a well respected rancher, farmer, spouse and father. He served for 10 years as Morgan County Commissioner of District 4, as did his father. He was instrumental in the formation of the North East Morgan Water Department and served as its first general manager. He was an active member of the Alabama Cattleman's Association and was a charter member and one of the founders of the Florette Community Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel Hough Lynn of Somerville; one son, James W. Lynn, III of Huntsville; and one sister, Emma-Sue Gardella of Decatur.
Pallbearers were John Burden, Joe Crawford, Mickey Childers, Ganes Burden, Lloyd Brooks, Skeggs Gilchrist, Ronald Yancey and Howard Jenkins.
