CLEMENTS – The Falkville Blue Devils fought back in the fourth quarter against Clements, and picked up it first win, 18-15, since beating Danville in 2002.
Ian Thompson proved to be the key ingredient. Thompson rushed for 112 yards and scored all three of the Blue Devils touchdowns.
After a scoreless first quarter, it appeared the game may go into halftime with both teams scoreless. Thompson took care of that, though, with 1:14 remaining.
The running back scored from seven yards out, as Falkville took a 6-0 lead into the locker rooms.
But Clements took the lead at 7-6 in the third quarter when Joey Sutton scored on a 19-yard touchdown run.
Thompson then scored his second touchdown of the night by way of the air. Quarterback Todd Russell threw to Thompson for 18 yards and a 12-7 lead.
Late in the third quarter, though, Clements took a 15-12 lead after a touchdown by quarterback Brian Young, who hurtled over center for one yard. Tony Patrick ran the two-point conversion.
The Blue Devils scored what proved to be the game-winning touchdown when Thompson ran in from one yard out.
