    Weddings and Engagements

    Hogan, Hobbs exchange vows
    Cassandra Lee Hogan of Hartselle and Matthew Thomas Hobbs of Falkville were wed Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, at 5 p.m. at Hartselle Church of Christ.
    The Rev. Phillip Hines officiated the ceremony.
    The bride is the daughter of Leroy and Phyllis Hogan of Hartselle. The groom is the son of David and Janet Hobbs of Falkville.
    The bride was given in marriage by her father.
    The doors entering the sanctuary were adorned with an above-the-door swag of green and white hydrangea, Jackson vine, springerie and baby's breath. An arrangement of red, pink and white flowers cascaded off the baptistery ledge.
    The bride wore a formal designer gown of luxurious English net. The tank top gown featured a scoop neckline and a scooped back. The re-embroidered Alencon lace covered the gown and was detailed with sea pearls and sequins. The A-line skirt adorned with lace flowed into an elegant chapel length train. Her headpiece featured a double-tiered, elbow length veil with a sea pearl accented bridal bandeau.
    The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of Escimo, Vandella, Black Baeara, Charlotte Livia, Vogue roses and spray roses wrapped with sheer French ribbon and studded with pearls.
    Beth Westbrooks of Suwanee, Ga., was matron of honor.
    Bridesmaids were Chanda Morgan of Hartselle, Carrie Beth Tidwell of Hartselle, Holly Reeves of Hartselle, Kellye Templeton of Auburn, Kelly Hobbs of Hartselle and Kim Hobbs of Hartselle.
    Attendants wore various styles of claret colored gowns and each carried a smaller version of the bride's bouquet with baby's breath.
    Kirby Posey of Danville, Avery Westbrooks of Suwanee, Ga., and Riley Hobbs of Hartselle were flower girls. Austin Hobbs of Hartselle was ring bearer.
    David Hobbs of Falkville, father of the groom, was best man.
    Groomsmen were Jay Hobbs of Hartselle, Lee Hobbs of Hartselle, and Lee Hogan of Hartselle, all brothers of the couple; Clint Chaney of Birmingham, Bart Hyche of Florence and Derrick Cain of Birmingham.
    Music was provided by singers Rhonda Hilliar and Will Morgan, both of Hartselle, and sound equipment manager Jeff Hilliar of Hartselle.
    Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the fellowship hall.
    The reception area featured a towering arrangement of red, pink and white roses, gladiolas, larkspur and hydrangeas. Each table was decorated with fresh flowers and candles.
    The bride's table was covered with different layers of white tablecloths and Battenburg lace, topped with various colors of rose petals and votive candles. The wedding cake, which sat atop a silver platform, was a five-tiered white cake with raspberry filling adorned with edible pearls and ribbon and topped with three elegant orchids.
    The groom's table was covered in burlap and shades of brown and black tablecloths and featured assorted chocolate treats. The groom's cake was a three-tiered chocolate cake with chocolate basket weave icing and topped with chocolate covered strawberries.
    Barbara Ray was the wedding director. Konnie Posey, Kim Prince, Tina Walter, Kristie Wilbourn, Janice Hyche and Misty Hyche assisted with the reception.
    Jamie and Jessica Long of Decatur attended the bride's book.
    The couple honeymooned in Cancun, Mexico. They will reside in Hartselle.
    The groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner Aug. 1 at Red House Grill.
    The couple was honored with several pre-nuptial events, including:
    Vest, Newton exchange vows
    Molly Rhea Vest of Hartselle and Joshua Lawayne Newton of Hartselle were married July 26, 2003, at 2 p.m. at St. Luke United Methodist Church.
    The Rev. Keith Elder officiated the ceremony.
    The bride is the daughter of Randy and Saronda Vest of Hartselle. The groom is the son of Wayne and Cindy Morgan.
    The bride was given in marriage by her father.
    The church altar featured a white collade and topper with a white lattice background. A large mixed floral arrangement was centered upon white columns adorned with tulle and Jackson vine and lighted ficus trees in the background.
    The bride wore a designer gown of luxurious matte satin. The A-line mock two-piece featured a strapless neckline adorned with pearls, bugle heads and rocols with matching straps. The elegant satin skirt was bordered with a matching beaded pattern that flowed into a chapel length train. A tiara of Austrian crystals held her veil of illusion. The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of vendella, escimo, versillia, white hydrangea and green dendrobium orchids encircled by loops of sheer French ribbon.
    Chanda Morgan of Hartselle, sister of the bride, was the matron of honor.
    Bridesmaids were Ashley Warren of Danville, Hannah Shadden of Danville and Mia Shoeybipour of Eva.
    The bride's attendants wore two-piece iridescent satin gowns featuring celery and white plaid tops and solid skirts.
    Kristina Morgan, sister of the groom, and Madison Adkins, cousin of the groom, were flower girls.
    Wade and Wesley Vest of Hartselle, twin cousins of the bride, were ring bearers.
    Mike Lowery of Moulton was best man.
    Groomsmen and ushers were Will Morgan of Hartselle, brother-in-law of the bride, Tobi Vest of Hartselle, brother of the bride, and Matt Reynolds of Hartselle. Morgan and Reynolds also served as candle lighters.
    Music was provided by Rodney Blaxton of Hartselle.
    Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the church.
    The bride's table was covered by a white edged French sheer tablecloth with a white Battenburg lace overlay.
    The five-tier square cake was adorned with fresh flowers of peach and white roses, green and white hydrangea and green dendrobium orchids. Each layer featured green ribbon and pearl beading. The cake sat atop a silver pedestal cake stand with crystal beading underneath.
    The groom, a Florida Gators fan, had a swamp theme table topped by a small boat that held assorted chocolates and featured an arrangement of cattails. Palm trees held salty and sweet goodies.
    A chocolate basket weave cake sat atop a blue water base that held cattails and a green Florida gator sporting his team colors. Finishing touches to the table included palm tree candlesticks, a Florida Gators plate and matching cap, and a beautiful hand-painted backdrop with a matching swamp scene.
    Greerlyn Stroupe, aunt of the bride, was the wedding director. Sherry Beard, Willie Agee, Lisa Kelsoe, Carolyn Wallace, Ava McCullar, Brenda Taylor, Leslie Hughes, aunt of the groom, Brandi Elmore, Shea Parker, cousin of the groom, and Cyndal Hightower, cousin of the bride, assisted with the reception.
    Ashley Kelso of Hartselle attended the bride's book.
    The couple honeymooned in Orlando, Fla., and visited Disney World. They will reside in Hartselle.
    A rehearsal dinner was held July 25 at 6 p.m. at Barnhill's Restaurant hosted by the groom's parents.
    The couple was honored with several pre-nuptial events, including:
    Lewis, Vinson exchange vows
    Trista Deanna Lewis of Priceville and Daniel Joseph Vinson of Somerville were wed Aug. 21, 2003, at 3:30 p.m. at the Hartselle Wedding Chapel.
    Minister Bill Partridge officiated the ceremony.
    The bride is the daughter of Anthony and Sandy Cox of Decatur. The groom is the son of Dennis and Nancy Vaughn of Somerville.
    The bride was given in marriage by her father. The couple will reside in Priceville.
    Anderson, Slater to wed Sept. 26
    Robert and Mary Lee Dennison of Seattle, Wash., and George Anderson of Seattle, Wash., announce the engagement of their daughter, Heidi Jane Anderson of Somerville, to Gus Slater III of Somerville, son of Gus and Ann Slater, Jr. of Priceville and the late Alice Gertrude Slater of Hartselle.
    The bride-elect is a graduate of Inglemoor Sr. High School and Central Texas College with a degree in marketing. She is employed by Costco Wholesale in Huntsville. She is the granddaughter of the late Jane and George Anderson and the late Robert and Helen Buschman, all of Seattle, Wash.
    The groom-elect is a graduate of Hartselle High School and The University of Alabama in Huntsville.
    He is employed by Federal Mogul of Athens.
    He is the grandson of the late Gus and Beulah Slater, Sr. of Hartselle and the late Bernice and Ezra Hinnart of Goldsboro, N.C.
    The wedding will be held Sept. 26 in Jamaica.
