OXFORD – The Hartselle 9 and 10 Nationals allowed a four-run lead to slip away and slipped out of the AAA State Tournament last Wednesday with a loss to Prattville.
Hartselle ended up in the loser's bracket after losing to Montgomery in the third round last Tuesday.
Against Prattville, Hartselle leaped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning, only to allow six unanswered runs.
Seth Wiley doubled in Hunter McCaghren and Will Swann to give Hartselle an early 2-0 advantage. Wiley later scored along with Chance Partlow on Ethan Rose's single.
From there, it was all Prattville. Prattville two runs in each of the first, second, and fifth innings.
The Nationals did not help their own cause by leaving six runners stranded on base.
Corey Holladay went 2 for 2, while Swann, Wiley, Partlow, Austin Dupper and Ethan Rose also had hits.
