Hartselle National 11-and-12 in championship

FLORETTE – The Hartselle National 11-and-12 year old team remained undefeated and was to play Decatur American Blue for the Area Championship Tuesday at Danny Huskey Park.
Monday night, Hartselle beat Ardmore 3-2 to advance to the championship, while the team picked up its first two wins against Decatur American Blue and Ardmore.
Against Ardmore Monday, Hartselle fell behind 1-0 in the first inning before pitcher Russell Powell settled down. Powell pitched four innings, struck out 11 and walked one while giving up only two hits.
Tony Weaver earned the save, pitching the final two innings and striking out four.
Ryan Joy belted a double, as did Sam Fleischman, while Luke Bole added two singles.
Against Ardmore in its second round game, Hartselle won 15-5.
Hartselle tagged four Ardmore pitchers for 11 hits. Tony Weaver and Jared Johnson both hit home runs, Bole and Fleischman had two singles, and Walton Ashwander, Andrew Hampton, Braddock Wilson and Jake Wallace all had one hit a piece.
Josh Doyle was credited with the win, pitching three innings and allowing only two hits.
Hartselle started the Area Tournament with a 3-1 win over Decatur American Blue.
Bole went the distance, striking out 10 and allowing three hits. Weaver and Bole had the team's only hits.
