R. Leon Livingston

Funeral for R. Leon Livingston, Sr., 74, of Hartselle, will be Thursday (today), June 26, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Dewitt Crowe and Terry Nappier officiating.
Burial will be in Herring Cemetery.
Mr. Livingston died Monday, June 23, 2003, at Hartselle Medical Center. He was born Sept. 19, 1928, in Morgan County to Ruby Stewart Livingston and Audie Harvel Livingston. He was a 1948 graduate of Morgan County High School. He had served in the Company C 1343rd Combat Engineer Battalion from 1947 to 1963 and also served during the Korean Conflict. He was the chairman of deacons and assistant Sunday school director at Southwest Baptist Church. He helped form and was scoutmaster for Cub Scout Pack 92 and also helped organize the first girl's softball league in Hartselle. He had been employed by Gordon Transport as operations and terminal manager; safety engineer for Daniels Construction in Albany, Ga., Lake Charles, La., and Houston, Texas; Valley Truss and Manufacturing in Decatur; and the city of Hartselle as a field inspector. He was the brother of the late Nell Livingston Eckiss and the grandfather of the late T. Brent Sivley.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Lee Livingston of Hartselle; two sons, Lynn Livingston of Enterprise and R. Leon Livingston, Jr. of Sylvester, Ga.; two daughters, Jo Livingston Sivley of Decatur and Jeri Livingston Spille of Hartselle; one brother, William Edward Livingston, Sr. of Hartselle; 10 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Southwest Baptist Church .
