Its reputation for rehab, physical, occupational and speech therapy is like no other.
Encore Rehabilitation Services has been around for more than 20 years, and Paul Henderson is the brainchild.
"We own 30 outpatient clinics across the state, including two in Decatur, and others in Moulton, Athens and Oxford," the president and co-owner said. "We do a ton of athletic training all over the state."
With the popularity of strength, agility and quickness training on the rise, Henderson began opening centers for this type of conditioning.
Called Sports Enhancement Centers, five have opened their doors, including one right here in Hartselle, and another in Decatur.
"We do every school in Morgan County except one," he said. "We also do several in Limestone and Lawrence County."
Encore's new facility in Decatur stretches 37,000 square feet, while the one in Hartselle, located in the Hartselle Plaza Shopping Center, spans more than 12,000 square feet.
Batting cages and strength training, among other things, are offered at the Hartselle location, while Decatur's boasts an olympic style weightlifting area, six indoor batting cages for both baseball and softball, as well as speed, agility and quickness training areas.
Athletic Director Conley Duncan, of Hartselle, will bring many years of experience to the new centers.
Duncan is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), receiving his education from The University of Alabama. He is formerly the Director of Sales and Performance Enhancement for Cybex International, Inc.
"We want to develop a program for each individual," Duncan said. "We have custom designed strength training programs to help speed, agility and quickness."
Duncan also has worked with one of the nation's most highly regarded strength coaches – Tom Shaw.
Shaw was with the New Orleans organization before becoming the strength coach for the New England Patriots the year they won the Super Bowl. Duncan worked with Shaw for seven years.
