PTO officers thank school supporters

Barkley Bridge Elementary School's P.T.O. officers would like to express our gratitude to the many individuals and businesses who helped make this year's Spring Fling such a success.
The event took place on Saturday, April 5 and once again proved to be our P.T.O.'s largest fundraiser.
Besides a multitude of teachers and parents sending items and working shifts, we received support from many businesses who provided numerous items for our silent auction.

Hartselle home to honest people

On March 31, at about 8 p.m., I received a phone call from a gentleman by the name of Fred. He told me that he had found a cellular telephone in a parking lot and my number was listed in its phone registry.
I recognized the telephone as belonging to my son Ken. I called his home and was told by his wife that he was at the ball field.
I gave her the number of the gentleman who had the telephone. She called someone at the ball field and asked them to tell Ken.
Ken, who was officiating at the field, called Fred. Fred was kind enough to bring the telephone to the field for Ken.
When I asked the gentleman his name, all he said was Fred.
Fred lives on Bethel Street in Hartselle.
Thank you, Fred.
On April 3, I received a telephone call from the Hartselle Police telling me that someone had turned in my wife's billfold and checkbook.
Apparently she had left them on the hood or trunk of her car. When she retrieved them, they were intact with nothing missing.
We do not know who found them and turned them in to the police. Thanks to them.
We want to say thanks to whomever found and turned in these items, and to Fred for finding and following through to get the phone back to Ken.
These acts are very commendable. We are proud to be a part of Hartselle. This is another event proving that Hartselle is a good place to live-a place of honesty and decency.
