Dinner theater

Funds to benefit Bethel Baptist Church and School drama department
Jon Nichols, fine arts director at Bethel Baptist Church and School, teams with the cast of "Happy Birthday, Dear Grandpa"-the school's second annual dinner theatre production. A cantankerous grandfather (played by Nichols), ill-tempered and paranoid, is determined that his grandkids, three young adults, are trying to kill him for their inheritance ($642 and a postcard collection). Grandpa doesn't mind shouting it down the halls of the apartment buildings to alert whatever neighbor he can. So when Grandpa suddenly slumps forward, face down in the birthday cake at his birthday party, the grandkids realize it looks like murder and they are suspects. "Happy Birthday, Dear Grandpa" will be presented April 11 and 12 at 6 p.m. at Sparkman Civic Center. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for ages 12 and under. All proceeds will benefit the Bethel Baptist School drama department. Call 773-2154 for ticket information.
