Jennifer Leigh 'Jenny' Austin

Funeral for Jennifer Leigh "Jenny" Austin, 17, of Hartselle was Sunday, March 30, at 2 p.m. at New Center Baptist Church with the Revs. Harold Brown and Alfred Palmer officiating.
Burial was in the adjoining cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing.
Miss Austin died Thursday, March 27, 2003, at Children's Hospital in Birmingham. A native of Morgan County, she was a junior at Brewer High School where she was an honorary game captain of 2002-2003 varsity football team. She was a homecoming attendant for the junior class. She was a student at the Piano Artistry. She was a member of Health Occupation Students of America, Fellowship Christian Athletes, Spanish Club and she was an office assistant. She was a member of New Center Baptist Church.
She was the granddaughter of the late Howard Keel, Robert Lackey and Beatrice Austin.
She is survived by her parents, Frankie and Teresa Lackey and Bennie and Kathy Austin, all of Hartselle; two brothers, Tres Austin and Jeremy Livingston, both of Hartselle; four sisters, Amanda Patterson and Katrina Austin, both of Hartselle, Lizz Lackey of Decatur and Lashay Flannagan of Birmingham; grandparents, George and Bertie Lee Johnson of Hartselle; grandmother, Wilma Leneva Lackey of Moulton; grandfather; Bennie Austin Sr. of Monroe, La.; and great-grandmother; Althea Simpson of Monroe, La.
Pallbearers were Jim Roberts, Tony Walker, Jason Barber, Michael Halbrooks, Zac Ferrell and Joseph Baker.
Honorary pallbearers were the 2002-2003 varsity football team of Brewer High School.
Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital, Children's Hospital and Osteogensis and Imperfecca Foundation.
