Father provides marine's address
Editor,
Early in January, the Hartselle Enquirer ran my son's (Lance Cpl. Jeff Kyker) marine picture along with a story on his departure to the Persian Gulf.
I received many comments on it. Thank you.
I also had many people request his address upon arrival. On Feb. 23, he was able to send me his address.
For those who asked for it and those who might like to write to him his address is:
LCPL Kyker, Jeff P.
2nd MEB MALS-29 GSE
USS Saipan (LHA-2)
Unit # 77176
FPO AE 09511-7176
When I was in the army and serving in Vietnam, I loved to get mail from family and friends.
But, due to the war protests that where happening then as they are today, a lot of schools and colleges wrote mail to any serviceman in Vietnam.
I received many of those letters and made some pen pals. I would like to see the people of Hartselle show their support for our troops in this same way.
Citizens could choose local men and women who are serving our country to write and show love and support to.
If any school class in Hartselle would like to adopt my son's unit, send mail to:
Any Marine
2nd MEB MALS-29 GSE
USS Saipan (LHA-2)
Unit # 77176
FPO AE 09511-7176
I am sure these young servicemen and women would love to hear from them and to hear about Hartselle.
Jeff is still unable to tell us where he is exactly, but maybe he can in the near future.

Parent thanks Hartselle club
Editor,
On Feb. 15, there was a dance for the young men and women in Special Education at Hartselle High School. The FCCLA Club, under the sponsorship of Mrs. (Cynthia) Weaver, gave us a special night to remember.
The girls' gym looked great with strings of white lights creating a romantic glow. There was latticework, an arch, cloud-like tulle and colorful balloons.
There were plenty of crowd pleasing munchies attractively served. A King and Queen were crowned and a photographer was on hand making lasting memories.
The music was superb, with some provided by our very own talented Special Education students.
As an added treat, the Morgan County Arc's teen club was invited, enabling everyone to make some new friends.
Nice folks from the FCCLA were fabulous hosts and hostesses making sure everyone had a good time, mingling and dancing with the guests.
One of the special pleasures was the arrival of various teachers and staff members who praised, encouraged, and made all of their students feel like a million dollars!
We are truly blessed here in Hartselle to have such wonderful folks working with out school system.
Our warmest thanks go out to Mrs. Weaver and her FCCLA students. It was a wonderful nights!
