The Hartselle Tigers ran 18 plays in the first quarter with no points to show for.
Within six plays of the second quarter, the Tigers had built a 21-0 lead.
So long S.R. Butler.
Hartselle defeated the visiting Rebels 35-8 Friday night in the first round of the Class 5A Alabama State Playoffs.
"We executed basically what we do," head coach Mike Smith said. "Run the football at them, and keep it simple. That's what we did."
Jeremy Orr led all rushers with 116 yards on 17 carries. He also scored three touchdowns.
Smith was not quick to praise his senior fullback, though.
"He broke some good runs, but a lot of times he wasn't touched," Smith said. "That offensive line started mashing in the second half."
It was the normal performance for the Tigers' defense.
