Local residents among officers

By Staff
The Wallace State Community College Society of Emerging Educators (SEE) recently installed its officers for the 2002-03 year at a luncheon that featured speaker Cherie Brennan-Cornelius who spoke on the RSVP Reading Buddy Program.
Brennan-Cornelius coordinates the RSVP program for Marshall County elementary schools. She enlists volunteers to go into schools and read one-on-one with children reading below grade level.
This program is part of America Reads, a VISTA program.
Following her talk, the SEE group decided to coordinate a Reading Buddy Program for Cullman and Morgan Counties.
SEE is sponsored by LaDonna Allen, WSC Director of Retention. It is a program that brings education majors together for study, career-related activities and, most recently, community service.
Officers for the year are Mia Shoeybipour of Eva, President; Tawny Buckelew of Eva, President-Elect; Leslie Nail of Holly Pond, Secretary-Treasurer; and Rebekah Toles of Arab, Activity Coordinator.
