DANVILLE – With three weeks remaining in the season and a playoff spot well out of sight, the Danville Hawks turned their attention to playing spoiler Friday night.
Carbon Hill had other plans.
The Bulldogs handed the Hawks a 29-0 shutout, moving Carbon Hill's record to 6-2.
Carbon Hill would be in the running for a playoff spot, but during the summer, the team participated in an unauthorized camp in Kentucky.
The Bulldogs just took out their frustrations on Danville.
Carbon Hill held Danville to only 87 yards total and gained 295 of its own. Carbon Hill's Jackson rushed for 148 yards on just nine carries. He scored the first touchdown of the game on a 69-yard gallop to the endzone.
Dobbins' 26-yard pass to James gave Carbon Hill a 13-0 lead late in the first quarter. Stovall put the Bulldogs ahead 20-0 on a one-yard run in the second quarter as Carbon Hill took a 22-0 lead into halftime after a safety.
Danville's defense held Carbon Hill to only six points in the second half.
Brandon Hitt led Danville rushers with 24 yards on nine carries and Thomas Garner gained 20 yards on seven carries. As a team, the Hawks were held to 67 yards rushing.
Friday night, Danville hosts Winfield in a Class 3A, Region 7 battle. The following week, the Hawks wrap up their season at home against Meek.
