Tanner – The Falkville Blue Devils suffered their first loss of the season at
the hands of the Tanner Rattlers 33-12 Friday night.
The Rattler scored 12 of their 33 points mid-way through the first quarter. The two touchdowns were scored by Adam Keenum and Reshard Langford.
"We have been worried about the speed of this team," Falkville head coach Jeff Miller said of Tanner. "We did not tackle well and they got us out of our gameplan early after those two quick scores."
Early in the second quarter, the Blue Devils got things going when Todd
Russell threw a pass to Cory Simpson. Once Simpson touched the ball he turned it into a 74-yard touchdown.
Once again Adam Keenum and Langford each rushed for one touchdown in the second quarter to take the halftime lead at 26-6
After a trip to the locker rooms the Blues and Rattlers were in attack mode and both teams were scoreless during the quarter.
The fourth quarter saw Jonathan Nelson run one in from the 12 yard line for the Rattlers. This ended the scoring for the Rattlers
Also in the fourth quarter, Falkville punt returner, Steven Holt, weave and wave through
the Rattlers defense for a 74-yard punt return. The play took 13 second and ended for scoring for the team.
The win was the first for Bowens and his Rattlers.
"I saw some strengths and weaknesses out there," first year Tanner head coach and former Alabama standout Tim Bowens said.
