Calhoun Community College will soon begin offering a new associate degree.
The Alabama Commission on Higher Education recently gave its approval for Calhoun to offer an associate of applied science degree in advanced electronics manufacturing. The program will be offered this fall.
Classes in the new program will be offered at Calhoun's recently completed Advanced Manufacturing Processes Lab, the second phase of the college's Aerospace and Advanced Technology Park.
"This new two-year program progresses from fundamental knowledge and skills in math, science and electronic manufacturing through the advanced state-of-the art electronic manufacturing process and packaging techniques," Jim Swindell, assistant dean of technology education at Calhoun.
Courses throughout the program will prepare students for related industry certifications.
