Danville High School Lady Hawks power forward Charise Bain has committed to continue her education and basketball career at Maryville College in Tenn.
Bain, daughter of John and Terri Bain, both of Hartselle, averaged 20 points and 11 rebounds per game during her senior season for Coach Robbie Smith and the Lady Hawks.
Bain will enter Maryville College with an impressive background. She has maintained a 3.96 grade point average in high school academic. Her basketball honors include team MVP and All-county, All-area and All-state honors.
Dee Bell, head coach of the Lady Scots basketball team said he expects Bain to be a great addition to the Maryville College program.
"She is a post that can score and a nice spot up shooter," Bell said. "She possesses excellent defensive skills and will be a nice addition to the team that puts a premium on post recruiting."
Next fall Bain will join a team that finished 20-8 in the 2001-2002 season, earned the Great South Athletic Conference championship and competed in the second round of the NCAA tournament in Division III.
Located in Maryville, Tenn., Maryville College is situated in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains. Founded in 1819, it is one of the oldest institutions of the higher learning in the South.
