Yanks, Braves and Cards are early leaders, while other sort out middle of the pack

The Yankees, Braves and Cardinals were working their way toward the top in 7-8 league play.
The White Sox laid it on thick with seven runs in the first two innings and when the Braves mustered a run in the top of the third, the Sox had a five-run answer waiting.

The Giants collected six runs before the Yanks got on the board, but they needed two more to hold off a late rally by the Yankees.

The Giants pulled out to a 6-4 lead during the next five innings, but the Mariners came up with the win on a three-run rally in the bottom of the seventh.
