A bike rider was injured in a crash on U.S. 31 in Hartselle Wednesday night.

The crash occurred on U.S. 31 northbound in front of the Car Lot in south Hartselle at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday.

The victim was identified as Dwight Taylor, 52, of Hartselle. He was transported by County EMS to the hospital.

Hartselle Police Lt. Justin Barley said officers were called to the scene on a “pedestrian riding a bike who was struck by vehicle.” However, Barley doesn’t know if there was another vehicle involved.

“Police officers at the scene were not certain if the bicycle was struck by another vehicle,” Barley said. “The accident is still under investigation.”

The crash shut down northbound traffic for a few minutes as emergency personnel were treating the victim’s injury.”
